Grow, Grow, Grow

Josiah's been busy working on his fat rolls.

He coos and smiles, although I have yet to capture a good smile on camera.

He loves being in his sling and mei tai. He's quite the snuggler! It makes him generally easy to take out and about--just pop him the sling and he's as happy as a clam for a good hour or two.

He's often happy to amuse himself on the floor for 10-20 minutes.

He likes his pacifer (although not quite as much as Elijah) and a good, tight swaddle.

When he fusses, it is usually because he needs to eat/sleep/be changed, easily and quickly fixable.

He's now around 14 lbs. and 23ish in. I got out the 3-6 months clothes today, and I really could have gotten them out a week or two ago.

We think he's pretty sweet!

Beach!

Elijah was super excited to go to the beach with beloved friends yesterday! He was ready at the door at 9am for our friends who showed up on-time at 9:30am; he would not be dissuaded from his watching post.

We all had a lovely time enjoying the sand and good company.

Highlights from Elijah's week:

We made lemonade--"Maisy did make lemonade, too!" -- taking our inspiration from "Maisy Makes Lemonade"

Elijah used his construction vehicles to make a track for his train. Poor suburban kid has to play with a container of dirt.

And on Saturday, we visited the police department's open house.

There was a fire truck and a fire engine.

We got to ride in a police car. "He turned on the sirens so we could go fast across the road."

And we got to touch a highway patrol helicopter. Later, we got to watch it take off from the parking lot. "Helicopter went up and up and up!" It was an exciting day!

Huntington Gardens

About a week ago, I took the boys up to Pasadena to go to the Huntington. Dustin joined us on his lunch break and then we took the boys over to his work.

Elijah thought the Huntington was fun once he accepted where he was at. Nothing like an irrational toddler in front of the Children's Garden crying, "I want to go to the Huntington and play!"

At the volcano

Elijah's favorite activity: making music with rocks

Memorial Day Outing

Since we had two high-maintenance, somewhat sick children, we decided to take them out for the day. If we were going to spend all day giving all our attention to them, we might as well do something fun!

We took, as Elijah will happily tell you, the green line to the blue line to enjoy the beach. Elijah was excited to ride on two electric trains.

We walked from the station to the beach to play for a bit.

Long Beach Harbor has a little aquabus that will take you across the harbor for a dollar.

Elijah was thrilled to go on his first boat ride!

We stopped for food before taking a bus (even more transportation fun!) back to the train station.

Josiah thought the day was great, too, because he spent the whole time close to mommy in his wrap.
