Getty Villa

Last weekend, we took Margie up to the Getty Villa. Elijah was feeling sick and was not a fan of touring the exhibits; good thing the outdoor gardens were beautiful as Dustin and I took turns baby watching and admiring ancient artifacts. The architecture is fascinating; it is modeled after a Roman villa with an excavation site theme for the surrounding areas.

Disneyland

A couple of weeks ago, as part of John's Christmas present, Elijah and I took him to Disneyland. We had a fun time together and "It's a Small World" was liked by all.

Elijah has now, sadly, reached the age where some of the rides scare him.

Balloon

Elijah enjoyed playing with his birthday balloon from his grandparents.

It makes a nice noise

It is fun to walk round with

Phone

Elijah's getting taller and more resourceful; things that used to be safely out of reach no longer are. He loves playing with phone, pushing buttons and holding the phone up to his ear to say, "Lullo." In the evenings, he gets excited when the phone rings because he knows it is his daddy calling ("Dadada!").

Great-Grandparents

My grandparents came out for a visit to California before heading back to Indiana after a winter in Arizona. The last time they were at our place, it was two days after we had gotten the keys to the condo (just a few weeks before Elijah's birth) and the place was a mess--blackened carpets, dirty walls, bowed balcony, moldy fridge. Things have changed significantly in the last year, thanks to many, many helping hands.

We enjoyed our visit with them. Elijah loved playing with Grandpa's coins and watching him spin them.

Climber

Elijah has mastered the stairs. He loves climbing up them (chanting, "up, up, up") and sliding back down.

Irresistible

The other day I was giving Elijah kisses and he signed "more" to me, which promptly got him more kisses. His response was to keep asking for more after each shower of kisses. So sweet!

Teething

For the past two weeks, Elijah has working on cutting his top four teeth (tripling his total number of teeth). This has led to some grumpiness and an enjoyment of carrying teething medicine around as a teething toy.

Focus

I love watching Elijah play; he is so focused at it, carefully manipulating objects and moving them to and fro, in and out.
