Supervisor

One day last week, I only had a couple of students so there was room for Elijah at the big table.

Enjoying His Bath

One of Elijah's favorite activities is taking a bath. He can happily lounge in the bath for over twenty minutes, even if minutes before his bath he was fussy.

Check out those rolls!

He's running out of room (the Bumbo seat in the bathtub was rejected)

He thinks baby-in-the-mirror is pretty interesting

And washcloths are yummy

Marco Polo, the Bird Song Version

A couple of weeks ago, when we were studying Marco Polo, I taught my students an indoor version of the game Marco Polo. (Note: It doesn't really work as an indoor game; that day it was obvious we needed some sort of gross motor activity before the next table activity and it's what I could come up with on short notice.) The game has since enjoyed popularity amongst the group. One student raised it to a new level however. Using his bird song book/player, he asked his friends to respond to a given bird call with the mate's call. So for the next while, the park was filled with the calls of the common loon.

Watching Mommy

Elijah's favorite activity is watching mommy, even if it means twisting and turning.

It's a good life

Life doesn't get a whole lot better than having an elephant in one hand and a fist to suck on.

Aunts and Uncles

One advantage to having siblings closer to your son's age than your own is the ability to trade babysitting. Last week, Elijah and I spent a couple of nights down in Irvine while Mom and Dad could enjoy a few nights away.

Another advantage is an uncle ready to play.

Most heard lines: "Elijah, you're so adorable. (That means cute)." "He's fussing." "He's spitting up."

Elijah decided to pass on the movie night.

John was a willing photographer.

Sleeping

Having outgrown a whole set of adorable clothes, Elijah has moved on to outgrowing his cradle.

Too big! When he sleeps, his arms stick out the rails.

So much more space

Since moving to the pack n play, Elijah has been sleeping for 8-9 hours, rapidly eating, and then it's back to sleeping for another two (whether causal or coincidental, I don't know). Dustin wants to know why we are not utilizing the crib; I like the convenience of having Elijah right next to me.

Hiking in Oceanside

We went for a family hike in Torrey Pines State Park.

John enjoyed pushing Elijah; note the beautiful Torrey Pines

It's pretty funny to bump down steps

Oceanside

Last weekend, we joined my parents and brother down in Oceanside for a few days.

Elijah got to enjoy lots of time with Grandpa (and Dustin and I got to enjoy a couple of dates)

So cute!

Dear Reader,

Please excuse the lack of cute pictures; we have been traveling to the faraway lands of Oceanside and Irvine. We offer these pictures as an apology:
