Elijah has learned his first adjective: hot!
He seems to think corn just is called "hot," since we're always telling him that it is hot.
He does also use the word correctly to describe his eggs or oatmeal and sometimes when we're out in the sun.
The child now gets his own ear of corn.

San Diego
Right at the end of the semester, we headed down to San Diego for a night away as a family. Our first stop was a good place for tide pools, but it was high tide, so we enjoyed the view and the rocks.
Elijah took it upon himself to rearrange the rocks.
It was a great place to play!
And a beautiful view!
Then we headed off to find some beach to play at until dinner time.
Elijah liked playing in the sand, but not the water.
After a delicious dinner of fish, we went back to the hotel to watch a movie while Elijah did not sleep.
We went back to the tide pools the next morning and found lots of crabs and sea anemones.
Then it was off to the San Diego Zoo! The tired child quickly pronounced that he was "all done" and proceeded to repeat that refrain until he finally went to sleep. But Dustin and I enjoyed seeing the animals. It's a beautifully set up park with a great selection of animals.

So Sad
The school year has come to end, meaning our dear little friends no longer come over three days a week.
Normally, we have a tablecloth on our kitchen table, except at school time. However, I had stuck it in the washing machine the night before, so the table was bare this morning. At breakfast, Elijah took that as his cue that the friends were coming. So he sat there, calling his friends by name, gesturing at the door and at the empty chairs.
