Watering

Elijah loves getting out his watering can and watering the plants. He's almost genuinely helpful! Most of the water now ends up in the pots.

15 Months

At fifteen months, Elijah likes to imitate the actions of those around him. This includes sitting in chairs like big people and trying to join in with second grade as best he can.

His vocabulary continues to grow (approx. 40 words), with my favorite additions being "berry" (which sounds similar to "baby," so it sounds like he is sitting in his highchair asking to eat "more babies"), "thank you," and the names of my students (so sweet!). He's starting to put together two word sentences: "more," "please," and "dada" are the words most likely to be paired with another

Added words: uh-oh, banana, Teddy, thank you, berry, egg, water, this, milk, grandpa, broom, Bible, help, there-you-go

Quiet play in his crib is a welcomed new addition to our routine. He likes to choose which toys go in the crib ("This! This!").

He also likes to act silly--running around and saying, "boo?" or intentionally collapsing on the floor in a heap of giggles, getting up to fall again.

He has gotten a taste for berries and has fallen in love with them. No berry can be eaten in his presence without him noticing it and earnestly requesting, "berry please." He'll happily read the same book 5+ times in a row, although he might only want to read the first half. "Jamboree" is a favorite new for it is full of berries, berries, berries. All things water are attractive to him--showers, the kitchen sink, watering plants.

Sometimes quiet play gets very quiet and turns into naptime.

Children's Museum

Elijah loved watching the electric train (I'm sure he'd like watching his grandpas's trains as well!)

The little grocery cart was great fun to push and load and unload

Riding the rocking horse

Driving the car was lots of fun! There were tears and cries of "More!" when it was time to go home.

The local Children's Museum has free admission on the first Saturday of the month, so we took advantage of it when Dustin's parents were down at the beginning of May for Elijah's dedication. Dustin's mom, Elijah, and I enjoyed the museum while Dustin and his dad added more vents upstairs to help the air conditioner work more effectively.

At the park

Dustin's parents came down for the weekend while Heather and Joel were here. One evening, we had a picnic at the park with extended family.

Cousins

Good-bye hugs

Playing with magnets

Briefly sharing the air mattress

Playing the piano

Kitchen cabinet play

We had a nice week with Heather, Joel, and Teddy. We hadn't seen them since they moved away last August, so it was great to see them. Elijah alternated between saying friendly words like "More baby" and "Teddy" and inhospitable words like "No" and "Off." Teddy liked to hand things to Elijah and touch/push him. Elijah liked having his own space and sitting possessively on the whole box of blocks. Sharing is hard when you are 1!

Beach Babies

Wednesday afternoon, Heather and I ventured out to the beach with toddlers. Despite listening to screams the whole way there (Elijah did not want Teddy to touch his car seat), we had a nice time there. Teddy loved the water and wanted to stay in there the whole time, while Elijah loved the sand and thought the water was too cold.
